Immediate Shift to Distance Learning

Dear Warrenton Hammond Parents and Families,

Earlier today, the Clatsop County Public Health Department (CCPHD) announced 77 new COVID cases in Clatsop County.   (See the attached press release).    These cases are linked to Pacific Seafood in Warrenton and many have been traced to residents of the Warrenton and Hammond communities.  While none of the cases have yet been traced directly to our school campuses, the high volume of cases means that many of them are still being traced.

With this news and based on the recommendation of the Clatsop County Public Health Department, I have made the decision to close our district schools to in-person instruction and all in-person activities effective tomorrow, Friday, September 25th. This includes after school activities, sports practices, and all Warrenton Prep programs.   All instruction will be done through Comprehensive Distance Learning during this time.

The Warrenton Hammond School District campuses, offices, and facilities will be closed through at least Friday, October 9th.

The district will evaluate the situation as it develops.  We will remain in contact with you over the next two weeks to update you on the status of our schools and to let you know if the closure will extend beyond October 9th

Sincerely,

Tom Rogozinski

WHSD Superintendent
