Plans for the 21-22 School Year

2021-2022 School Year FAQ

What are the hours of the school day for each building?

All three of our school campuses will return to full-time in-person school five days a week.  The start and end times of the school day in each building are:

Warrenton Grade School (K – 5)                  8:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Warrenton Middle School (6 – 8)                 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Warrenton High School (9 – 12)                  8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Will there be an in-district remote learning option next year?

Yes.  The Warrenton Academy of Virtual Education (WAVE) program will be available to students in grades K – 12 whose parents would prefer an entirely remote program next year.

You can find more information on our website or by contacting the WAVE Program Director Mindy Little at littlem@warrentonk12.org.

What COVID protocols will be in place at the start of the school year?

Oregon law requires:

    • Individuals to wear masks on school buses, indoors while at school, and during indoor field trips.

    • Schools to provide a supervised health room where students who are ill with COVID-like symptoms can be monitored and sent home if needed.

    • Schools to exclude for 10 to 14 days individuals who:

      • Test positive for COVID.

      • Have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID.

      • Are presumed to be positive for COVID. (An individual is presumed positive if they have been exposed to someone with COVID and become ill with COVID symptoms.)

  •

In addition to these required protocols, the district will continue to:

    • Sustain 3 feet of physical distancing to the extent possible without disrupting the daily class schedule or the learning process.

    • Conduct verbal wellness checks of students each morning as they board buses and/or enter the classrooms.

    • Emphasize frequent handwashing and hand-sanitizing for students and staff.

    • Clean and sanitize commonly used areas/surfaces frequently.

    • Strongly encourage individuals who are not feeling well to stay home.

An individual is not required to wear a mask if the individual is:

    • Outside

    • Actively eating or drinking

    • Playing a musical instrument that requires using the mouth.

    • Alone in a private office enclosed by walls on all sides with a door that is closed.

  •

What are some things students will be able to do this year that they were not able to do last year?

  • Have a full schedule of classes that include enrichment/elective classes.

  • Work in small groups in class.

  • Have meals in the cafeteria, not the classrooms.

  • Spend time with more of their classmates during lunch and recess.

  • Go outside for recess or PE without wearing a mask.

  • Go on field trips.

  • Participate in all middle school sports, activities, and clubs.

  • Participate in a regular schedule of high school sports, activities, and clubs.
